Sunday notes

*Chris Tillman was slated to throw an inning today but was scratched due to a core muscle injury. By the sound of it, Tillman has been dealing with this for at least a day or two and he didn’t come in much better today. It doesn’t bother him when he runs or throws, but the O’s want to be cautious with it given how early it is in camp. There’s no plan for an MRI right now, but that could change over the next few days.

*Efren Navarro cleared waivers and has elected free agency.  He was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot for Yovani Gallardo earlier this week.

*Here are the pitching probables for the next few days: Mike Wright on Tuesday (with Tyler Wilson following), Ubaldo Jimenez on Wednesday, Miguel Gonzalez on Thursday and Vance Worley on Friday.

*Orioles manager Buck Showalter clarified on Nolan Reimold’s shoulder and said he’s just being cautious with it. Reimold is expected to be in the lineup for Tuesday’s spring opener.

*The Orioles played a 5 1/2 inning intrasquad game today to help get prepared for Grapefruit League play. Not a whole lot of offense, but some impressive pitching performances. Dylan Bundy and Jason Garcia were among the guys who threw well with Bundy striking out Matt Wieters and Chris Davis.

“I thought the pitching was crisp,” Showalter said. “All of them.”

*Pretty cool to see the O’s all decked out in orange LUNGevity t-shirts for today’s intrasquad in memory of late PR director Monica Barlow. Barlow passed away two years ago today from lung cancer.

*Showalter said Christian Walker and Trey Mancini, both first base candidates, are not being considered as outfield options this spring. He did say it could be something they do with them at Triple-A Norfolk, with Walker a better candidate for the outfield.

*Einar Diaz is going to coach for Panama in the World Baseball Classic qualifying round and will be gone March 14-21.
