Schoop to DL

Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after an MRI exam revealed a partial PCL tear and a mild MCL sprain in his right knee.

Fellow infielder Jimmy Paredes will be promoted from Double-A Bowie to take Schoop’s place on the active roster.

Schoop, 23, suffered the injury during Friday night’s game, though it was apparently the result of tripping over first base, not a hard slide into second by Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval. There’s currently no timetable available for Schoop’s return, though manager Buck Showalter said he’s confident the young middle infielder will return at some point this season.

Schoop was hitting .259 (7-for-27) with three homers and seven RBIs through nine games after hitting 16 homers and driving in 45 runs over 137 games last season.

I saw last nite’s game. it look like red sox were playing pretty baseball last nite. enough to get Orioles starter ejected.I did agree with him being ejected last nite.

pretty dirty baseball last nite on the red sox part.

Sense you are expressing an ill- informed opinion of tossing a pitcher(throwing a no hitter at the time) for hitting a FAT Sandoval and not even giving a warning to the bench I would like for you to tell me when an action like that has been taken before unless it was a payback or the batter had earlier hit a HR. Neither of those situations were operable last nite AND you had a young, relatively inexperienced, umpire!!
