Tillman officially Game 1 starter
NEW YORK—Chris Tillman started the Orioles season. And now the 26-year-old, a large part of the American League East Champions success, will get the chance to usher them into the playoffs.
Manager Buck Showalter officially named Tillman his Game 1 starter for the ALDS, an announcement that was a foregone conclusion given how the right-hander has become the rock of the O’s rotation.
Tillman is 13-5 with a 3.26 ERA in 33 starts this year. The way the O’s rotation is set up, it would seem like lefty Wei-Yin Chen and Miguel Gonzalez would be in line for Games 2 and 3, though Showalter said they will likely wait to announce the rest of the rotation until they know their opponent.
