Orioles regular-season home finale

Greetings from Camden Yards, where the O’s will close out their regular season in Baltimore with the series finale against Boston.

Nick Markakis remains out of the lineup and hasn’t played since Tuesday’s clincher. Markakis was struck by a pitch in the right shoulder by Toronto’s Aaron Loup and had an X-Ray on the area last week that didn’t reveal any structural damage. But the team is being cautious given that they already have locked up a postseason spot and Markakis has been considered day-to-day.

Nelson Cruz was named this year’s Louis M. Hatter Most Valuable Oriole Award by members of the local media. He will be recognized for his accomplishments in an on-field ceremony prior to today’s game. Cruz is enjoying a career year and enters the day with 39 home runs. Adam Jones got several first-place votes and received second place while closer Zach Britton got third. Others receiving votes: Wei-Yin Chen, J.J. Hardy, Nick Markakis, Darren O’Day, Steve Pearce and Chris Tillman.
