Orioles vs. White Sox

Greetings from Camden Yards, where the Orioles will take on the White Sox for the series finale.

*Orioles third baseman Manny Machado had his appeal heard today in the warehouse at Camden Yards and it lasted about an hour. Machado, who had his agent and executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette on hand, said he felt good about the way things went and is hoping to get word later this week.

Machado is appealing a five-game suspension and the O’s would prefer that he doesn’t have to start serving his punishment until after Friday’s doubleheader but that all depends on when the news comes down. The suspension will be immediate.

*Chris Tillman will start Game 2 in Friday’s doubleheader with Bud Norris throwing a bullpen session today and reportedly a little tentative. O’s manager Buck Showalter said Norris –who exited his last start with a groin injury– will take another work day and he could start later this weekend, although it’s a more likely scenario that the O’s will hold off a little while longer. They don’t need a fifth starter until July 1.

*The Orioles announced the signings of left-handed pitcher Matt Trowbridge (13th round) and righty Jean Cosme (17) to add to this year’s Draft class.
