Norris exits early with groin injury
Orioles started Bud Norris exited Saturday afternoon’s game against the Yankees prior to the bottom of the sixth inning with right groin tightness.
Norris, at just 85 pitches through five, walked out to the mound and after throwing a warmup pitch signaled for the team’s trainers, who came out along with manager Buck Showalter. Several moments later, the right-hander walked off the mound and was replaced by right-hander Ryan Webb.
The short start was disappointing for the Orioles with Norris holding the Yankees to one run on three hits and a pair of walks and in line to go deep. Baltimore, which added Brad Brach to the ‘pen before the game, was in need of a long start today given Ubaldo Jimenez’s 5 2/3 innings on Friday night.
Norris has allowed two runs over his last three starts, a 19 2/3 innings stretch.
