Orioles @ Astros, Civil Rights Game (Wieters update)

Greetings from Minute Maid Park, where the Orioles will take on the Houston Astros in the Civil Rights Game.

*Orioles catcher Matt Wieters was just out on the field playing catch with assistant athletic trainer Brian Ebel watching. Wieters was only out here a few minutes and threw to bench coach John Russell and said he threw 25 times and his elbow felt good.

It marked the first time he’s thrown in more than three weeks as the catcher is currently on the disabled list with right elbow discomfort.

Manager Buck Showalter said yesterday he wouldn’t take much out of today’s session, just talk to Wieters and Ebel and wait until Wieters is out there a few times before assessing. Wieters will take Saturday off before playing catch again on Sunday and said he will stick with an every other day plan for now.

*There are lots of things going on today with this afternoon’s Civil Rights game luncheon (which you can read about here) and George Foreman is throwing out the first pitch. Singer Aloe Blacc, who performed at the luncheon, will also sing tonight.

Showalter took some time today pre game to talk about his father and how he helped the Florida schools integrate. Showalter’s father, the late William Nathaniel II, also used to take him as a teenager to play what was then an African-American League for better competition.

*The Orioles are optimistic Johan Santana will extend the opt-out clause in his contract, which is June 1. Luis Ayala has not opted out yet, but it’s headed that way. Ayala is currently at Double-A Bowie.

I visited multiple sites but the audio quality for
audio songs existing at this web page is actually superb.

You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this
topic to be actually something that I think I would never understand.
It seems too complex and very broad for me. I’m looking forward for
your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!

It’s perfect time to make some plans for the future and it’s time to be happy.
I’ve read this post and if I could I want to suggest you few interesting things or advice.
Maybe you could write next articles referring to this article.
I desire to read more things about it!
