Orioles @ Indians lineups & pregame notes (no Machado)

Greetings from Camden Yards, where the Orioles will take on the Indians for the third of a four-game series.

Manny Machado continues to be sidelined with right groin stiffness, though he is doing better and will try to test it out by doing a few things on the field pre game. He could potentially be an available bench guy today, according to manager Buck Showalter.

With Machado down, the Orioles will add an infielder very soon. Steve Lombardozzi is the likely guy, although Jemile Weeks is another option. As for the roster move, Showalter was very cryptic pre game saying that the club had “a lot of irons in the fire” and was waiting on a few things. Struggling David Lough is not in the lineup, despite the Indians starting a righty, and Showalter said it’s because Delmon Young has had some good at-bats. Can we read anything in that with pending roster moves?

One roster move that looks good to go is Preston Guilmet, who was optioned yesterday and will be added when Chris Davis goes on the paternity list on Sunday. Guilmet is still with the team and is expected to travel with them following Sunday’s game with today counting as a taxi squad day.

Tommy Hunter will not travel with the Orioles and will remain in Baltimore as he rehabs back from a groin strain. Hunter could throw while the team is on the road and is eligible toward the end of that three-city trip. He’d probably need a rehab game or two.
