Orioles @ Twins series finale

Let’s do this one more time, Target Field. Greetings from Minneapolis, where the Orioles will play their series finale against the Twins before heading to Tampa Bay for Monday’s off day. They will conclude the road trip with three against the Rays.

*Chris Davis probably won’t be working out today after he went through a series of hip strengthening exercises and sprints on the field yesterday with strength and conditioning coach Joe Hogarty. Davis did plan on asking about taking ground balls at some point today, however.

The O’s have been encouraged with how Davis has progressed and yesterday was the first day he had no discomfort in his oblique, which is why he was able to move around and do some stuff. He’s also pool running. With the turf at Tropicana Field, Davis won’t do a whole lot during the Rays series on the field, but the hope is he can ramp it up when the team returns home. He said today he hopes to swing the bat in the next few days and throwing will likely be one of the final steps since the oblique injury is on that side. The O’s have been careful to publicly say it, but there’s a lot of optimism about how well he’s responded to the injury so far.

*Baltimore made a roster move this morning, opening a 40-man roster sot by outfighting infielder David Adams to Double-A Bowie. The move allows the Orioles to add a reliever that’s not on the 40-man if necessary and also clears a spot for Buck Britton, who was promoted to Triple-A today, to play.

Adams, 26, batted .214/.295/.371 (15-70) with two homers and eight RBI in 21 games for Triple-A Norfolk. Adams was claimed off waivers from Cleveland on March 22 and optioned to Norfolk on March 23.
