Orioles at Red Sox Game 2 lineups and notes

Greetings from Fenway Park, where the Orioles will take on the Red Sox for the second of a four-game series, an afternoon contest that is much warmer than last night. The O’s are fresh off an 8-4 win last night which you can read about here, with Jonathan Schoop collecting a career-high four hits and Brian Matusz throwing a career-high 2 2/3 relief innings.

*Part of the reason manager Buck Showalter said he extended Matusz was that fellow lefty Zach Britton was unavailable. Britton was sick with the same flu-like symptoms that has swept the clubhouse in recent days and he watched last night’s game at the team hotel. Britton is back and available today.

*Manny Machado played in his first extended spring game this morning, going five innings and 2-for-4 while playing third base. Machado will take Sunday off, a scheduled off day in his rehab, play seven innings at third base on Monday and serve at designated hitter on Tuesday.

*Matt Wieters is getting the start again today after last night’s game with the plan for Steve Clevenger to catch on Monday afternoon. Wieters got a breather with Thursday’s off day.

Hey Britt !! What a Game last night ! Chris Tillman is Looking GREAT !! 1.78 ERA
is something to be Really Proud of; would have been nice to see him go the Full
Game but as usual Buck Knows BEST !! Matuz Looked almost Unstoppable against
the Red Sox and throwing 2 2/3 Innings was a Great Workout for him, Matuz could
Very Well be a Starter on any other team, and May just get his Opportunity to Fill in
as a Starter IF Ever he is Needed to for the Orioles !! How about Schoop @ 3rd Base !! What a GAME !! Now if he can just Keep those Pesky ERRORS Down ??
Looking Forward to seeing Bud Pitch Today against Felix Doubront !! Norris was
such a Great Addition to our team last Year and I am Looking for him to Play a
BIG ROLE as the year progresses … Should be a bit Warmer Today and that is
going to Really Boost our Batting Average and Maybe some LONG BALLS OVER
THE GREEN MONSTER !! MARKAKIS !! Well he is just getting Warmed Up; this is
Going to be a Very Good Year for him and the Green Monster should be his Very
Britt I so enjoy your coverage of the Orioles !! Thanks and Keep Up the Great Job !!
