Orioles @ Tigers lineups and pregame notes

Greetings from Detroit, where the Orioles will take on the Tigers in the series finale…

*Manager Buck Showalter is giving Chris Davis a half-day off, which he tries to do with certain guys when the team has an upcoming off day. Travis Ishikawa is playing first base and it’ll be interesting to see what the team does with him given that he’s taken the roster spot of Miguel Gonzalez, who has to come off the paternity list on Friday.

*Brian Roberts ran some short bursts on the field yesterday and has been taking slow rollers and practicing going to both sides to test his hamstring. Showalter said Roberts will come in to get a workout on Thursday’s off day in Toronto and the hope is he will be ready to go out on a rehab assignment when the team’s road trip ends.

*Henry Urrutia –who has been out with lower back soreness– was cleared to start playing in games again for Double-A Bowie while Dylan Bundy continues to progress and is up to 90 feet throwing off flat ground.

*Jake Arrieta, who was optioned following Monday’s game, will go to Triple-A Norfolk and get another start to get his feet under him. Showalter said the team has talked about a lot of options — including sending him to extended spring, using him as a reliever — but for now they want him to get at least one start at Norfolk and go from there.

*Nolan Reimold went 0-for-3 in his first rehab game for Double-A Bowie yesterday and he will play left field today.
