Orioles @ Yankee lineups and pregame notes

*There hasn’t been a decision made yet as to whether Jason Hammel will make another rehab start, but Hammel will join the team today in New York to fly to Toronto. Manager Buck Showalter said a decision on Hammel probably won’t come until after he’s thrown a bullpen in Toronto, but I think the safe bet is Hammel will make his next start for Baltimore. He tossed five scoreless innings for Frederick last night, striking out seven and allowing three hits and a walk.

*Tommy Hunter will also be in Toronto and is expected to be called up before Monday afternoon’s game –which would make 10 days since being optioned — from Double-A Bowie. Hunter, who tossed a scoreless inning for the Baysox last night, will be used out of the bullpen. He hit 96 mph on the radar gun last night, according to Showalter.

*Jake Arrieta will start for Triple-A Norfolk on Monday and the team will make a decision on whether to call him up after that. Arrieta and lefty reliever Zach Phillips are still under consideration for callups.

Here are the lineups as the Orioles try to go for their third series win in the Bronx this season for the first time since 1976…

Orioles @ Yankees lineups and pregame notes

*As expected, the Orioles reinstated Wilson Betemit from the disabled list and recalled Xavier Avery, Steve Tolleson and Luis Exposito.

*Manager Buck Showalter said there is nothing imminent regarding Troy Patton’s return from a right ankle sprain. Patton picked up a ball for the first time on Thursday and threw from approximately 60 feet on flat ground. Also, nothing new on Jim Thome, who is dealing with a herniated disk in his neck.

*Jason Hammel will make a rehab start tonight for High-A Frederick and won’t go more than five innings and around 75 pitches. Depending on how that goes, he could make his next start for the Orioles. Either way, Hammel will join the club in Toronto to throw a bullpen early next week.
