Orioles @ Athletics lineups and pregame notes

*Kevin Gregg was released by the organization today, meaning he is free to sign anywhere. Ryan Adams, who was also taken off the 40-man roster, was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk.

*Chris Tillman threw another bullpen yesterday, his second since leaving a start with elbow inflammation, and the plan is for him to start Monday. Manager Buck Showalter said the team wants Tillman to get one more side session in and the 24-year-old has fared well against the Mariners.

Sunday’s starter is still TBD, as is Tuesday, with Joe Saunders pitching Wednesday’s game. Sunday could be several different guys, according to Showalter, with Jake Arrieta, Tommy Hunter, Randy Wolf and Steve Johnson all options. Wolf is believed to be the leading candidate to make that start if he’s not needed out of the bullpen the next two games.

*Troy Patton (right ankle sprain) is slated to throw off a mound on Sunday in a rehab game at the team’s fall instructional league in Sarasota, Fla. and could rejoin the team as early as in Seattle. Showalter said Boston is the worst-case scenario for Patton, who will need at least two outings down there before being activated.

Jim Thome is also taking swings and could get into games Monday and Wednesday at instrux. He is considered a few days behind Patton.

*All full-time Oriole employees which is approximately 90 people, and 11 players are participating in a ticket giveaway around Baltimore where fans who are showing their support with team gear will be randomly awarded free tickets for the team’s upcoming homestand. Each participant will be given six tickets to giveaway as part of the Orioles’ random acts of kindness promotion and can be found anywhere in and around the city at places like grocery stores and gas stations.

*Jason Hammel will miss at least one start and rest and rehab his right knee with no timetable for his next start. While Thursday’s MRI showed nothing alarming, and just a “hot spot” of scar tissue, Showalter said “now it’s just a matter of getting him back to the point he was before he had the setback.”

I doubt the O’s would sell out this game at the Yard… Good for the A’s. If I didn’t live an ocean away, I would be at every home game. I hope the fans really show up next homestand…
