Orioles vs Rays

*Dana Eveland had his contract purchased prior to this afternoon’s game with infielder/outfielder Steve Tolleson optioned to Triple-A Norfolk to clear a roster spot. Eveland –who cleared waivers earlier this month — didn’t pitch well in his one outing in Triple-A, but he will add length and insurance for starter Chris Tillman.

Given that the Orioles bullpen had to pick up 6 1/3 innings last night, with Miguel Gonzalez’s struggles, the O’s had to cover themselves in the event Tillman struggles today. Speaking of Gonzalez, he’s been sick said was throwing up yesterday morning but did not alert the team until after his outing. The 28-year-old Gonzalez said he was hoping to pitch through it.

He’s not the only one throwing up yesterday. The offense is worse than pathetic. Match that with terrible pitching and you have last night’s results. It was fun for a while, but now the O’s should sell, sell, sell. Weiters, Jones, Britton and Bundy should be untouchable. Everyone else, listen to the offer.

Sell, sell, sell is not the answer, answer, answer. Waking up the bats and finding a few live ones is the key here. Here I go again, beating the old drum again. Mr. Duquette, PLEASE look south to Norfolk, VA. Here sits an experienced major leaguer who has been hitting in the .330 – .340 range all year. A player who can play a few different positions and should be given a “long overdue’ chance to help. No, he is not superman but has definitely shown that he deserves a chance. For anyone who has read my numerous comments this year, you know who I mean, For those who have not, his name is Lew Ford. Check out http://www.norfolktides.com and see if you agree. Avery and Hoes are the future but they need to stay in AAA and get more experience. I have been finding it very hard to believe that with his baseball knowledge, Mr. Duquette hasn’t figured out a way to get Lew Ford on to the 40 man and then 25 man roster and see what happens because it most certainly can’t hurt. How can you ignore him as is obviously the case?

Add him and you can release anyone except Weiters, Jones & Britton. They look pathetic with the other 22, so just pick one. Let me help, Reynolds, Betemit, …..

Well, Miguel, your nonsensical decision to not come forward cost the team a little bit.

I agree that Ford should be brought up. He’s been hitting the ball very consistently in Norfolk. Who do they send down though? It starts to become a numbers game because Andino will be back here in 2-4 weeks.
