Reynolds homers, hilarity ensues
If you missed Mark Reynolds’ first homer this season, you can rewatch it on MLB.com here. Reynolds is smiling after blasting a ball off Red Sox starter Jon Lester over the Green Monster and he runs right into the tunnel of the visiting dugout, making for an amusing exchange because he totally ignores the hand of manager Buck Showalter.
Before I get a million questions about if there’s a rift, don’t worry. Reynolds, who meets with Showalter on a near-daily basis and has blamed himself for not playing producing, looked like he didn’t even see the hand and made a beeline for the dugout. But it is funny to watch Showalter’s reaction. As for the rest of the dugout, which all sat quietly down, looks like they were messing with Reynolds in not celebrating, which is why the 28-year-old was grinning as he jogged over.
The homer snaps a streak of 76 at-bats without a homer, the third-longest streak of Reynolds’ career.
