Orioles vs. Twins lineups and pregame tidbits

*Happy Easter!  It’s also my Dad’s birthday, so a special shout-out to him as well. Hopefully everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend.

*Not much news today pregame. Mark Reynolds is not in the lineup after fouling a ball off his left calf in yesterday’s game. Reynolds didn’t have any ice or wrap on the area and said no X-rays were taken and he could have played. But given the team’s depth in having a flexible bench, manager Buck Showalter chose to err on the cautious side.

*Brian Matusz makes his first start of the season against the Yankees on Monday and he didn’t downplay the importance of it this morning.

“It’s definitely a special start,” said Matusz, who went 1-9 with a 10.69 ERA last season.  “It’s been a long road this offseason, this spring to be able to fight back, to being able to make the team and then do that, pitching the way I know how to pitch. I’m excited to go out there and just pitch the game I love to play and just get back out there again.”

Asked how he reflects on last year, Matusz said, it’s a fresh season.

“I don’t even remember last year,” he said. “I’ve totally cleared it out of my mind and my focus is starting with a clean slate here and to get off on a good start.”

*I’ll have full Matusz and Reynolds stories up later on Orioles.com, where you can also follow along with today’s game on MLB.TV if you are out of market. If you haven’t gotten MLB.TV, I highly recommend it for avid baseball games. It’s the best way to stay on top of all the action around the League.

Good to see when Buck puts in different players they can actually be productive. Love the 25 man roster. Vlad, Lee, Fox Who? We are so much better. I am starting to believe Dan and Buck are a perfect match of experience and baseball knowledge committed to returning the Orioles to their rightful place atop the AL East. Damn this fun again. Thank God.
