Orioles/Red Sox lineups (updated)

*The Orioles and Red Sox played a B game at 10 am this morning on the back fields. Tommy Hunter threw 42 pitches over three extended innings, and he will pitch in a Minor League game next. Zach Britton, Jim Johnson, Dylan Bundy, Willie Eyre and Kevin Gregg also threw.

Britton and Johnson each went one inning and they both could make their Grapefruit League debut on Wednesday versus Pittsburgh, although nothing has been decided on just yet.

*Mark Reynolds is back in the lineup after dealing with some lower back discomfort. Reynolds said yesterday was the first day he came in in no pain and didn’t seem concerned, calling it a general “middle of spring” ache.

*Orioles catcher Matt Wieters said Sunday that it’s the organization’s right under Major League Baseball’s labor agreement to renew his contract and the 25-year-old claims he won’t hold a grudge against Baltimore in negotiations down the road.

Wieters was the only player out of 17 who had his contract renewed on Saturday and said he found out the news several days ago. Represented by Scott Boras, Wieters declined to comment on what the exact figure he will make in 2012 is. He also declined to say if the team renewed him at a lower salary than the $425, 500 he made in 2011, but according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, Wieters was renewed at $500,000.

“They have the right to offer any contract they want,” Wieters said. “That’s their right. I’m just ready to play baseball.

Under MLB’s rules, teams can renew a player who does not have three years of Major League service time (or “Super 2″ arbitration status) as long as they don’t cut his salary more than 20 percent from the previous year and still keep it at or above the Major League minimum. While Wieters will reportedly make more this season than in 2011, that the two sides couldn’t agree on a figure could prove to be contentious down the road. Wieters is a free agent after the 2015 season.

“There are no grudges,” Wieters said. “I would like to have the system work a little differently, but it’s how the system works.”

*Nolan Reimold worked out on the backfields with the team and the swelling on his left cheeks is down considerably. He will see a dentist on Monday and could get into game action as early as Tuesday.

*The Orioles are expected to make the first round of cuts this afternoon, and I’ll have more on that later.
