Orioles/Braves lineups and pregame tidbits

*Orioles executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette officially put the kibosh on free agent Johnny Damon landing in Baltimore. “I don’t think so,” Duquette said. “I already signed Damon when he was 28.”

Duquette joked he’d prefer to sign the 28-year-old Damon right now and while he is a big fan of the outfielder –calling him “a leader and great clubhouse guy,” right now he doesn’t fit into the Orioles’ plans.

*Orioles catcher Michael Ohlman had an MRI on his right shoulder yesterday –which was injured in a car accident– and the test revealed significant damage. Ohlman will get a second opinion from team orthopedist Dr. Wilckens today, and the two options right now are surgery or rehab. He will not be with the team for the rest of camp.

*Sunday’s B game will feature Tommy Hunter (three innings), Zach Britton, Jim Johnson, Dylan Bundy and Willie Eyre. The plan is for the other guys to go one inning, although pitching coach Rick Adair said one of may go two innings.

*Nick Markakis came through Wednesday’s sprints feeling good, and the team has a schedule laid out that has Markakis making his spring debut at designated hitter March 14. That’s ahead of the original schedule for Markakis, which is encouraging, although the big test will continue to be his mobility in the field. You can read more on Markakis here.

Brittany, I would like to hear about an old subject and make a new subject.
Adam Jones- I would like to hear from Duquette something substantial in the way of his course of action with his contract status. So far Vague is an understatement in the answers. Yes I want to hear he is going to sign a long-term deal before the first game this year. Yes I think this has many positives for the organization.
1. What it will tell the young players coming through the system.
2. What it will tell the free agents about the change in the organization valuing talent.
3. Solidifying the CF and up the middle for the team for several years.
4. It has to view as a positive on the part of the fans.

The list could go on but you get the point.

Dan needs to get this done to for his own personal public relation move for relationship with the player, team, fans etc. So far most of his moves are Hope For the Best type. Adam is a guarantee and solidifying.

Can Dan be forthright in a statement and moves on Adam?

Duquette said that wont be done in-season. so if its not done this spring, u can count on talks being tabled by both sides until this winter.
