Hello, Sarasota

I’m officially down in Florida —  in preparation for the Orioles Spring Training in Sarasota– and while there will be plenty of content in the coming days about the O’s on this blog and Orioles.com, I wanted to take a second to shed some light on what the organization has been doing outside of upgrading the 40-man roster.

Laura Williams, the Orioles director of Florida operations, wrote a very informative article in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that discusses the various ways the organization is helping the community and how the O’s new digs –with most of Ed Smith’s renovations completed in time for last spring — are finally feeling like home. I encourage you to check it out.

Sarasota… Lucky You!!! Have any of the players arrived early?

I’m sure there’s a few. I did unpacking, grocery shopping etc. this morning. will head over to the complex tmrw morning.

Happy Florida Britt! Go Orioles. ;).

Britt let us know asap on any Brian Roberts updates as he is critical to O’s success. Have fun work hard bring home the stories and don’t forget the sun block. O’s4ever

Thanks for the Updates. We will see you on March Fifth.

Is there Orioles Spring Training stuff to see before games start? Can fans watch practices at the complex?

you can watch the practices in the morning for free, starting tomorrow, the 20th.

Hi Britt! We live in Baltimore but are in Sarasota now too, but only through February 29th. Are there any Oriole workouts that would be good to attend at Ed Smith? If so, could you give us the date(s) and time(s). Thanks so much!

Tom & Jan Smithberger

I would wait until the whole team practices, which starts on Friday, because it’s more exciting to watch. The Os usually take the field around 915 am, although some mornings it’s later due to a meeting. Hope that helps! -Brittany

What is the O’s afternoon practice schedule? I’m from Ocala and plan on being in Sarasota from 3/2 thru 3/4 and would like to catch the O’s practice at Ed Smith.

they’ll be playing games starting early march, no more practices.

Did you know that March is National Kidney Awareness month? I am a local volunteer with the National Kidney Foundation of Florida, and wanted to see if the Orioles would allow either a patient or NKF representative to throw out a first pitch at a game in March and recognize National Kidney Awareness month with announcements and a table set up in the concourse area. Please let me know who I should contact.

You would have to get in touch with someone who works for the Orioles. I’m an independent reporter who works for MLB.com.

Any practice today? I am flying out tonight but would love to go see the stadium this morning. Any t-shirts or O’s goodies to purchase? My boys back in MD would LOVE some O’s stuff???

Practice today, yes. Team takes the field around 945 am.

When and where are the best time for autographs… practices or before games. Thanks.
