Esposito agrees

The Orioles have agreed to terms with second-rounder Jason Esposito, leaving two of their top 10 picks –first-rounder Dylan Bundy and sixth-rounder Nick Delmonico — still in limbo with hours to go in tonight’s deadline.

A third baseman out of Vanderbilt University, Esposito was the 64th overall pick and will receive a 600,000 signing bonus.

Known for his defensive skills, the Connecticut native hit .341 with nine homers and 59 RBIs in 65 games this season and will join an Orioles system devoid of top positional prospects outside of shortstop Manny Machado, who was the organization’s top pick last season.

Esposito took to his Twitter page to thank the Vanderbilt program, calling it the “three best years” of his life in Nashville. He also tweeted, “Thank you to all the Baltimore fans for the support! Looking forward to this experience!”

Esposito is the organization’s 20th pick out of 50 to agree to terms and he is the highest pick so far.
