Orioles/Pirates lineups and pregame tidbits

*Jake Arrieta admitted today that he is dealing with some right elbow inflammation as a result of the bone spur he has in that area. It also affected him in Chicago and right now the hope is the team can continue to keep things under control with treatment. Arrieta said he wasn’t overly concerned at this point, and right now there are no plans for further testing.

Manager Buck Showalter said Arrieta is tentatively scheduled to pitch the second game of the St. Louis series on Wednesday, but obviously that depends on his health.

*The Orioles weekend rotation will be Chris Jakubauskas, Brian Matusz and Jeremy Guthrie. Zach Britton, who is throwing today, is slated to pitch again following Monday’s off day.

The reasoning in moving up Jakubauskas is because Showalter didn’t want to go back-to-back lefties and this way if Arrieta needs to be skipped they could potentially have Jakubauskas go in his place instead.

*Blake Davis is making his first career Major League start today at second base.

*Also, I’m working on an Orioles inbox for Thursday so send any questions my way at brittany.ghiroli@mlb.com. Include your name and hometown.
