Os/Phillies lineups and pregame tidbits

*Koji Uehara is still optimistic he will be able to throw on Friday, which would mark a week since he received a Cortisone injection in his right elbow. Uehara said, through interpreter Jiwon Bang, that there hasn’t been any “big changes” in how he feels. He hasn’t picked up a ball to play soft toss or anything since getting the injection. The Orioles are letting Uehara take it slow this spring with the hope he can avoid the DL later this season.

*This got buried a little  yesterday, but here’s what Yankees captain Derek Jeter had to say about Orioles prospect Zach Britton’s first start last night.

“He throws hard; his ball moves a lot too,” Jeter said. “He’s got a good arm.”

As for whether Britton’s arsenal can carry over into the Major Leagues, Jeter seemed to think so.

“He’s got good stuff,” he said. “And if you have good stuff [in the Minors], you have good stuff [in the Majors.”

Here’s the Phillies lineup. Will pass along the Orioles when I get to Clearwater.

*Infielder Cesar Izturis rolled his left ankle yesterday afternoon when diving back to the bag. He said he’d be out a few days.

I think the O’s should drop the facial hair policy. Just because the yankees have it doesn’t mean we have to, We’ve had 13 losing seasons with it so why not try something new. Remember how good the old Oakland A’s were ??? Whjy not ?
