Orioles split squad
The Orioles have a split-squad today, with Chris Tillman taking the mound against Boston for a 1:05 p.m. ET start in Fort Myers.
Top pitching prospect Zach Britton will get the ball for tonight’s game at home against the Yankees split-squad. That game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET and will be on MASN and MLB.TV. The Yankees are hosting the Phillies this afternoon, so don’t expect a lot of regulars to be in tonight’s Sarasota lineup.
The O’s, however, will have a strong lineup minus Derrek Lee. The earliest Lee could get into a game is Wednesday and when speaking to reporters yesterday he didn’t seem worried. Given his long rehab, he’s not used to hitting on a daily basis and has been slowed by soreness in the wrist area on the hand where his thumb was surgically repaired.
Since I can’t go to both games, I’ll be at Britton’s night start. But MLB.com’s Evan Drellich has you covered for this afternoon’s game in Fort Myers. There will be a story up on Tillman’s outing later and if you want instant updates you can give him a follow @EvanDrellich on Twitter.
