Orioles pregame tidbits (updated)
A few morning updates to get you going…
said this morning he will take batting practice again, which would be
the third successive day for BP. Lee has been slowed by offseason
surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb, but he said the
hope is now that he will be able to take regular BP every day.
When asked if Lee was close to getting into a game, manager Buck Showalter said he was going to check in with Lee after BP, although nothing is imminent.
“We are not at that point yet where we are saying, ‘He’s going to play on this day’,” Showalter said of Lee. “We are kind of leaning on him, how he feels with it.”
“He’s not behind at all. He’s right on schedule with the other stuff because it hasn’t limited him in the other stuff. Really he’s doing everything except playing in the games now.”
(sore left hip) will play catch today and plans on throwing a regular
bullpen session on Wednesday. Duchscherer confirmed that yesterday’s
session on flat ground and the half mound was encouraging.
*Jeremy Guthrie starts today’s game with Rick VandenHurk, Mark Hendrickson, Jason Berken and David Riske also scheduled to pitch.
*Wednesday in Clearwater against the Phillies will be Chris Tillman, Zach Britton, Michael Gonzalez, Jim Johnson and Pedro Viola.
*Prospect Joe Mahoney’s right knee is still sore and Showalter said he had his BP cut short on Monday. Mahoney fouled a ball off his knee in Sunday’s intrasquad game.
