Machado named MLB Top Prospect
The Orioles top pick in last year’s Draft, and third overall, high school shortstop Manny Machado topped MLB.com’s list of prospects at his position.
These stories always beg the inevitable question: When will he be ready for Baltimore? It’s pure speculation on my part, but I don’t think you see Machado before 2012. Remember, this is a kid that signed late and has yet to play a full season in the Minors.
If you want to know a little more about Machado, here’s the link to the feature I did earlier this season. What struck me was how mature and humble he seemed, despite being young and being surrounded by hype. It’s still very early, but it looks like the Orioles picked a good one.
