Tillman impressive again

It wasn’t exactly a great Mother’s Day for the O’s, who dropped Sunday’s finale to the Twins and had news break pregame that Jim Johnson is off to see Dr. James Andrews.

So here’s something to make you smile: Chris Tillman.

No, it wasn’t another no-hitter. But Tillman struck out a season-high 10 batters in seven strong innings to anchor Triple-A Norfolk’s 4-1 win over Toledo Sunday afternoon.

Tillman (3-3), earned his third straight victory and lowered his ERA to 3.49 in the process. The 22-year-old yielded just one walk and four hits, and each of the final six outs he recorded came via a strikeout.

Tillman faced just four batters over the minimum, throwing 62 of his 96 pitches for strikes.  He’s now gone 3-0 with a 1.86 ERA, 24 strikeouts, four walks and 19 hits allowed over his last four starts.

Pretty impressive. Although, I don’t think we see Tillman or Jake Arrieta until the O’s make some moves to help the offense. But they’re both certainly making a case to join the big league club sooner rather than later.

TILLMAN’S IMPRESSIVE? SO WHAT? We can’t score runs so bringing him up means we lose 2-1 0r 1-0 we still lose. WE have no offense! Atkins is homerless. Reimold isn’t hitting What is bringing up one pitcher going to do ?PACKAGE & TRADE HIM FOR ADRIAN GONZALEZ?

Tillman was in on last years season ending 4 game win streak that kept us from losing 100 games and helped Trembley keep his job. He has more upside stuffwise than Hernandez ,is younger but Hernandez has good stuff and will come around also . Tillman’s value for a team that has no offense is to help land a big bat for this hapless offense. Sure I would like to see him in our rotation but he would just be another Millwood good E.R.A no wins to show for it . We need offense right now more than another spot starter UNLESS we trade Millwood & Guthrie which is always a possibility!

We could get ALEX GORDON (1b,3b,OF) from KC right now(look him up) ,he is rotting away in the minors is only 26 and would be a tremendous improvement over Atkins.
