Recapping and moving ahead

Opening day 016.jpg

It’s not the prettiest stadium, but the Orioles baseball
that’s been played inside it hasn’t been so great either.

They are now a Major League-worst 1-10 with Friday’s
loss
. They’re batting .128 (10-for-78) with runners in scoring position
and 1-for-38 (.026) with two outs and runners in scoring position.

Matt Wieters and Ty Wigginton are the only guys batting over
.270.

But they will stay positive, according to manager Dave Trembley,
who spoke through gritted teeth last night as he answered questions.

“I get tired
of answering the same question in a very positive way but that
s
the way I will be,” Trembley said. “And I will deal with it as professionally
and as upfront as I possibly can. And none of us will let this get the best of
us.”

Jeremy Guthrie will
take the hill later this afternoon looking to stop the skid before it reaches
double digits. It won’t be an easy task as the A’s send Justin Duchscherer to
the hill.

In nine games (two starts)
against Baltimore, Duchscherer owns a career 2-0 mark and 2.78 ERA. Oakland
starters are 6-0 to begin the season for the first time since 2003.
