Pie exits
OAKLAND-Orioles outfielder Felix Pie exited Thursday’s game against the Oakland Athletics after scoring the team’s first run in the seventh inning. Pie, who appeared to injure his shoulder while at the plate, drew a one-out walk and advanced to third on Adam Jones’ single.He scored on Nick Markakis’ sacrifice fly to mark the first time the Orioles drove in a runner in scoring position all night.
Pie has been plagued by left shoulder injuries in the past, most recently hurting his arm while throwing to the plate in the Orioles’ Opening Day to the Rays on April 6. He has been one of the few bright spots in an Orioles’ offense and entered Thursday’s game batting .471 with a homer and an RBI. He was 0-for-3 in Thursday’s game. Nolan Reimold took over for Pie in left field for the bottom of the seventh inning.
