Roberts is swinging…sort of
Brian Roberts, who was cleared for baseball-related activities on Thursday, hit left-handed on Saturday morning, and manager Dave Trembley said he was encouraged by the positive report. Roberts did some flip and tee work and hit from right-handed on Thursday, but has told the team’s medical staff that it’s harder for him to hit as a lefty. That he was able to do that with no reported problems Saturday morning definitely bodes well for the Orioles.
You can just tell Roberts is itching to get back in the swing of things. He was out on the field watching the Orioles pregame batting practice today from behind the screen. Roberts has been watching pitches in the cages as well and has been working with hitting coach Terry Crowley with the hope that he will be ready for April 6′s Opening Day.
