Hernandez out 4-6 weeks

An X-ray taken on Sunday revealed that Michel Herndandez has
a fractured right index finger , an injury that will sideline him for 4-6
weeks.

“He was real disappointed, ” said Trembley, who talked to
Hernandez on Monday morning.

The injury was suffered a few days ago while Hernandez was
blocking a ball in the dirt, but Hernandez continued to play, even getting
several at-bats in place of designated hitter Michael Aubrey (who has a minor
groin injury) in Saturday’s game at Tampa.

Trembley said the injury was discovered when Hernandez tried
to throw on Sunday, and his injury has whittled the Orioles back-up catcher
battle to two: Chad Moeller and Craig Tatum.

A journeyman who has spent most of his career in the minors,
Hernandez was signed by Baltimore this offseason. In 45 career Major League
games, he’s hit .242 with a homer and 12 RBIs.
