Pie: A go for Saturday
Update 6:20: Manager Dave Trembley confirmed that Pie, Reimold and Aubrey will all be in Saturday’s game. Reimold and Aubrey will split DH duties with Pie in the outfield.
Felix Pie was walking a little funny in the clubhouse on Friday afternoon, but he insisted he felt fine when he woke up this morning and expects to play in Saturday’s game.
“It’s good,” Pie said of the left quadriceps stretch he felt during yesterday’s game. “I’m ready to go.”
Given that Pie’s season ended on a left quadriceps strain last year, he admitted that he was initially a little scared when he felt the muscle stretch.
“I’m not worried [now] because I don’t feel any pain,” he said. “I feel much, much better this morning. I can walk normal.”
Pie said he got some treatment this morning and that he would be “ready to go” for the Orioles-Tigers game in Lakeland at 1:05 p.m. ET tomorrow.
*Also Michael Aubrey was not in the starting lineup but could still get an at-bat. Manager Dave Trembley said prior to Thursday’s game that the plan is for Aubrey to start on Saturday. I blogged Thursday about Aubrey saying he could get in at some point tonight. As far as I know, that’s still a possibility.
*Assuming the weather isn’t too harsh, Nolan Reimold will make his Grapefruit League debut Saturday. The Orioles have been cautious with Reimold this week, but he told me that the plan is for him to play in Lakeland. That would certainly be a positive sign for the club.
