Game 2 Live thread

–Some fun things to watch for as the Orioles face off with the Rays.  Brian Matusz will make his Spring debut with Brandon Snyder doing the same at first.  For the Rays, Carlos Pena will take his first game swings since a finger injury ended his season.

*Dave Trembley still has no timetable on Brian Roberts but said he wasn’t worried about when he would make his debut. Trembley estimated a guy like Roberts needs maybe 30 spring at-bats. Seeing as though it’s only March 4, there’s really no rush.

*Clarification on Aubrey, who told me he would get in the game Friday. He will get in at some point, it might just be one at-bat, according to Trembley. He will also definitely start Saturday.
Update 1:08:
And we’re off. Felix Pie just started the game off with a bang– going yard on Jeff Niemann on a 2-2 pitch. The O’s continue to hit the long ball, that’s their 7th homer in 10 innings. Niemann sent Robert Andino and Lou Montanez down with grounders and Ty Wiggington flied out to center.

Updated 1:16: Brian Matusz had a great first inning. 22 pitches, 18 for strikes and three K’s. He got Kapler and Carl Crawford quickly before a 13-pitch battle with Evan Longoria. Looked like he beat him with a change-up. Either way, helluva opener.

Updated 1:40: Carlos Pena reached on an error by second baseman Blake Davis, but Matusz rebounded and sent Pat Burrell down swinging. Sean Rodriguez got a nice lift from the wind to send one over the right field fence. That’s it for Matusz, who tossed 36 pitches (28 for strikes.) And gave up an earned run on two hits over 1 1/3 frames.

If you’re curious about Brandon Snyder, who made his Grapefruit League debut at first base, he flied out to the warning track in center in his first at-bat.

Updated 2:17: Koji had a 3 up 3 down inning in the third, and Mark Hendrickson started the fourth. Lou Montanez misplayed a ball in right to allow Evan Longoria to reach base to open the frame. Burrell one-hopped a double to the right field wall, scoring Longoria to make score, 2-1. After Hendrickson struck out Kelly Shoppach, Rays infielder Reid Brignac hit a two-RBI single to give the Rays a three-run lead.

Updated 3:02 pm: Montanez makes up
for the error with 2 RBI hit. Kam Mickolio didn’t look so hot. gave up a
run to make the score 5-3
