As the Orioles make their way down to Sarasota, your newest Baltimore Orioles reporter for MLB.com is in neighboring Bradenton, where today’s temperature in the 60s had me jumping for joy.  My name is Brittany Ghiroli and today marked my first official day on the beat. I’m beyond excited for this opportunity, so much so that I came down here three days before my condo’s ready to bond with some of my family. The sunshine and chance to escape the snow up and down I-95 didn’t hurt either.

If you’re a frequent reader of MLB.com you might have seen my byline a couple of other places, most recently during the Yankees’ World Series run. In addition to freelancing for the Mets and Yankees sites, I spent last year working for  MiLB.com and got my start as an associate reporter for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2008.

With two years of experience in the AL East, I can assure you I will bring the complete and continual coverage of the O’s you’ve come to expect. Here you can find all the breaking news and analysis on the site, as well as pictures, behind-the-scenes anecdotes and other fun tidbits. It’s going to be an exciting year and I hope you will bookmark this site and follow me on Twitter for constant updates. I consider this blog a collaborative effort, so don’t be afraid to chime in with a question, comment or suggestion. I want to know what kind of stories you want, what’s bugging you about the team’s offseason moves and whether you think Matt Wieters is poised for a breakout year.

I’ll be headed to the team’s workout complex on Tuesday, with plenty of pictures and hopefully some good tidbits from the newly renovated Ed Smith Stadium.

Ladies and gentlemen, baseball season is upon us. And it’s a glorious thing.

I’m really excited to see a new face covering the Orioles! I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve for this season. I’m making a twitter just to follow!

I’m SOO excited for the season to start. I had not been a big fan of baseball until about 3 years ago. My boyfriend is a die-hard O’s fan and always has been. I started watching when he was and I am SO into it now. I think this is really be a good season for them. There is so much NEW, GREAT talent this year and they just have to get into the swing of things and work together! We will be coming to Florida to see some spring training games next month and I am so looking forward to it! Looking forward to reading more of what you have to say this season Brittany!

Welcome aboard. Always interesting to get a different perspective. I think this off seasons moves will improve the team. However it will take continued improvement from the young pitchers to make a sizeable improvement. I predict beween 75 and 80 wins. what do you think?

Is Brady Anderson still batting lead off?
